About URIM

Lights and truths.

URIM is a literary mirror. It does not recommend books, rank them, or sort you into a personality type. It attends to something quieter: the pattern of your reading, and how a particular book meets the particular reader you are.

You begin by naming three books that have stayed with you. From these, URIM reads a shape — an archetype, a core pattern, a blind spot, an unlived part. Then you bring any book to URIM, and it reads the encounter between that book and your pattern: where it will feel like recognition, where it will resist you, what it may do over a reading life.

The name comes from the Hebrew Urim — "lights." URIM is built on a single conviction: that what we read, and how we read it, is a kind of self-portrait worth seeing clearly.

URIM is made by Kzo Lab, LLC, an independent studio in Tampa, Florida.
